Privacy notice: messages to our Facebook Pages
Who is responsible: Passage Export Company Ltd, Mauritius, which operates Lakaz Mama. Contact: girish.r@lakazmama.com.
This notice covers messages and comments that you send to our Facebook Pages, including Lakaz Mama Australia, and our replies to you.
What we receive
Through Meta, we receive the following:
- the text of your message or comment;
- your Facebook name;
- the time you sent it;
- the identifiers Meta gives our Page for you and for the conversation.
We only see what you send to our Page.
How we use it
- We use it to answer your enquiry, and to keep a record of what we replied and when.
- Our replies may be drafted by our team or with the help of an AI assistant. A named member of our team reviews and approves the exact text of every reply before it is sent. Only that approved text is sent to you, in the same conversation, either by our team in Meta Business Suite or by our system through Meta's official messaging service. We reply only in conversations you started with us, and we do not send promotional messages through Messenger.
- After sending, we check the conversation to confirm that our reply appears in it and is addressed to you. This check does not tell us whether the message reached your device or whether you have read it.
- We do not use your messages for advertising, and we do not sell them.
Who processes it, and where
| Provider | What it does for us | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Meta | The service you messaged us on. It delivers your messages and our replies. | Under Meta's own terms |
| Supabase | Stores our reply records and our staff sign-in. | Stored in Sydney, Australia, including backups. Supabase states that its support staff, who may be located in any country, can access data when support is needed or a security incident occurs. It also says some service logs are processed in the EU. Its main contracting companies are in Singapore and the United States. |
| Vercel | Runs the reply application. | The application runs in Sydney, Australia. Vercel states that its main processing facilities are in the United States and that it may process data wherever it or its subprocessors operate. |
| OpenAI | The AI assistant our marketing team uses to read messages in our Page inbox and to draft replies. | Based in the United States |
| Anthropic | The AI assistant our developers use when building and checking the reply application. It may see reply records while doing that work. | United States. Anthropic states that it may also use other countries. |
| Windsor.ai (Windsor Group AG) | A reporting tool that reads comments on our Pages. | A Swiss company. Its processing locations are not stated in its privacy policy. |
Our team works from Mauritius and accesses these records from there.
The reply application itself does not send your message to any AI service.
How long we keep it
We erase message text, names and identifiers from our reply records 90 days after the last activity on a conversation.
A reply that has been approved but not yet sent is kept until it is sent or cancelled. A reply whose sending could not be confirmed is kept until we have checked with Meta whether it was sent. Erasing it sooner could remove the only record of a message that may have reached you.
Erasure is irreversible. After erasure, a minimal record remains. It shows that an enquiry existed, the dates and types of the actions our staff took, and the names of those staff. It holds nothing that identifies you.
Meta keeps its own copy of the conversation under Meta's terms. Our providers' service logs and backups are deleted on the providers' own schedules.
Deleting your data
Email girish.r@lakazmama.com. Follow the steps in our data deletion instructions. We will act on a verified request within 30 days.
